About BYHS

Louis and Sarah Block Yeshiva High School had its beginning in 1977, when a group of concerned parents and community leaders recognized the need for high-quality traditional Jewish education combined with college preparatory general education for St. Louis high school students.

The school now encompasses grades nine through twelve, and separate campuses are provided for boys and girls. The small size of the school, combined with a highly trained, experienced, and caring faculty, results in close attention to individual needs. The atmosphere at BYHS is more familial than institutional, and the students are encouraged to grow spiritually and emotionally as well as intellectually.

Block Yeshiva High School has been fully accredited by the Commission on Schools of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1981, and is recognized as a college-preparatory institution by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. It is a member of the Day School Council of the Central Agency for Jewish Education and is a beneficiary institution of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.

BYHS admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Scholarships are available to deserving students from a variety of sources, and no otherwise qualified candidate will be denied admission because of lack of ability to pay tuition.
