After BYHS

BYHS is a college-preparatory school, and its students are expected to enroll in institutions of higher learning following graduation. They typically choose institutions in localities where they can also continue their Judaic studies and be in a Jewish community. Many spend a year or more of study at an Israeli yeshiva between high school and college.

The school provides an extensive college advisement program, in which each student chooses two advisors, one from Judaic Studies and the other from General Studies. No faculty member is assigned more than five advisees, so there is considerable individual attention. There is also an after hours college counseling service at the "24-Hour Counselor" on this web site.

The advisors begin meeting with the students during the last semester of the junior year to help them begin to narrow their search for the ideal college, and then continue to mentor the student through the application, essay-writing, recommendation, selection and admission processes.

Two formal sessions are held with parents and students to discuss the entire college admissions process and the various sources of financial aid.

Graduates of Block Yeshiva have been accepted by the nation's most competitive colleges and universities and by the most prestigious Israeli yeshivot. More importantly, they have an excellent record of graduation and subsequent acceptance to graduate and professional schools.
